SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
Batteries, especially lithium-ion ones, can cause fires in garbage trucks, landfill and recycling facilities. It is crucial to dispose of batteries responsibly. Batteries contain valuable materials such as lead, cadmium, mercury, and lithium. These non-renewable resources can be recycled indefinitely, reducing the need for new mining and minimising environmental harm.
To encourage residents to drop off their batteries to the Randwick Recycling Centre where they can be recycled and diverted from landfill, I developed assets for the Sustainability team which were used to promote the battery recycling initiative.
